Newired 26.3 – New & Noteworthy

Release 26.3 introduces new capabilities designed to make content authoring more flexible, simplify day-to-day content management, and improve the maintenance of published content.

This release focuses on three key areas: smarter Journey transitions, a more efficient authoring experience, and improved Content Delivery version management.

1. Conditional Step Transitions

Smarter, more flexible Journey execution

With release 26.3, Content Authors can configure Conditional Step Transitions, allowing Journey Steps to automatically advance when specific conditions are met.

Previously, Step transitions relied on predefined mechanisms, such as user interactions or time-based delays. The new Conditional transition introduces greater flexibility by leveraging Newired’s Rule Engine to determine when a Step should continue.

Authors can define one or more transition rules, combining them using ALL or ANY logic, to create more dynamic and context-aware Journeys.

Key capabilities include:

  • Rule-based transitions: automatically advance a Journey Step when configured conditions are satisfied.
  • Multiple conditions: combine different rules using ALL or ANY logical operators.
  • Integrated Rule Engine: use the same rule types and configuration options already available across Newired.
  • Optional Delay: configure a delay alongside the conditional transition.
  • Rule evaluation feedback: view the current evaluation status directly from the Step configuration.

This enhancement enables Content Authors to build Journeys that better adapt to application behavior and user interactions, reducing the need for unnecessary manual actions and providing a smoother guidance experience.

2. Content Authoring UX Improvements

Faster navigation, easier content management

Release 26.3 introduces a series of usability improvements to the Newired Editor, designed to streamline everyday authoring activities and simplify the management of large content projects.

As the number of Journeys, Tips, and other overlay entities grows, efficiently locating and managing content becomes increasingly important. These enhancements reduce repetitive actions and provide authors with better visibility into their content configurations.

Enhanced Sidebar Search and Sorting

The Editor Sidebar now offers improved search capabilities, including the possibility to search for content using its unique entity ID.

New sorting options also allow authors to organize content according to creation and modification metadata, making it easier to identify recently updated entities or locate specific content.

Faster Navigation Between Content Entities

Content Authors can now navigate directly between sibling entities from their respective Edit dialogs.

This eliminates the need to repeatedly close a dialog, return to the Sidebar, and open another entity, making content reviews and bulk editing activities significantly more convenient.

Improved Segment Validation and Usage Visibility

Segment management has also been enhanced to provide clearer information about configuration validity and usage.

The Segment Editor Sidebar now displays validity indicators based on the evaluation of the complete ruleset, helping authors identify configuration issues more effectively.

Additionally, a new Segment Usage overview shows which content entities are associated with a specific Segment, with direct navigation to the corresponding entities.

This gives authors a better understanding of the potential impact of modifying a Segment and helps prevent unintended changes to content visibility.

Streamlined Rule Configuration

The rule editing experience has been further refined across the Editor.

When adding a new rule that requires a value, the corresponding input field now automatically receives focus, allowing authors to start entering the required information immediately.

This improvement applies to rule configuration interfaces across Step Actions, Visibility, Autoplay, and the new Conditional Transitions.

Together, these enhancements make content authoring faster, more intuitive, and easier to maintain, particularly in complex projects involving numerous content entities and Segments.

3. Content Delivery Version Management & Automated Cleanup

Simplified maintenance and better control over published content

Release 26.3 introduces new capabilities for managing the lifecycle of published Content Delivery versions through the Newired Portal.

Over time, published versions can accumulate, increasing storage requirements and making content management more complex. The new version management capabilities provide Content Authors and Administrators with better tools to maintain clean and organized environments.

Manual Version Deletion

Content Authors can now manually delete published Content Delivery versions that are no longer needed or were created by mistake.

To prevent accidental data loss, the deletion process includes a confirmation step and safeguards that protect the currently LIVE version from deletion.

This provides greater control over published content while ensuring that the active end-user experience remains protected.

Automated Version Cleanup

In addition to manual deletion, release 26.3 introduces an automated backend cleanup mechanism.

Administrators can configure retention rules to determine which obsolete Content Delivery versions should be removed automatically.

Cleanup operations can be scheduled to run periodically, for example overnight, minimizing the need for manual maintenance and reducing operational overhead.

The mechanism also includes configuration and logging capabilities to support safe and controlled execution.

These improvements help organizations optimize storage usage, reduce maintenance effort, and keep published content environments organized, particularly in large deployments with frequent content updates.
